Event Planning
When you are planning an event, you don’t want to leave anything to chance. You have to take whatever steps are necessary in the planning stage to make sure the event goes off as planned without a hitch. These events are usually one-time occurrences, such as a wedding, an official opening or a banquet. They are different from ongoing events in that special planning is necessary for each one and each event has different personalities and challenges.
You must develop strategies to make sure that your event is a successful one. You have to carefully match the event with the needs of the people hosting it so that you take all of their needs into consideration when planning. This forms the objective of the event. Planning for a wedding will be different than planning for a corporate event.
As the event planner you will have a budget to work with. You do need to further develop a budget so that you can pay for everything you need to make the event a special one. This involves making a detailed list of items that you need and getting cost estimates for each one. You should have a checklist or use a spreadsheet so that you can enter estimated costs and compare them to find the best deals. As you pay for each item, you should enter that cost in another column so you can easily keep track of the money you spend.
It may be your domain as event planner to find a venue for the event. In this case you will have to conduct site visits and perhaps sample some meals before you make the decision or narrow down the choices.
If there are speakers at this event, you will have to consult with the hosts to determine the order of the speakers. You will also have to make sure they are properly introduced and that they are seated so that it is easy for them to come to the podium.
